Mission Update

On Sunday we headed to church at Tierra de Oro for Sunday service. This was the first time that we have gone to church at the end of the trip, instead of the beginning. It was a great service of praising God in dual languages. We love our sister church!

During the testimony time, Oscar a boy from the church walked to the front and said “thank you for coming…uh that’s it.” That was a powerful moment for me…well worth it. Later, Oscar won the bike that we had brought to give away. Each day kids came and brought  a friend we put their name in the hat.

We then headed to eat lunch at large grocery store in El Paso. You pick out the fish and they cook it on the spot. Not everyone ate the fish, they missed out!  (Raigan, Kerrigan, Molly and Gunner were the only students to eat it.)

We made it home! We had some tire trouble on the trailer, again. Trailer tires look good on the tread but sometimes having them sit for a long time has a negative impact. When the tire gave way on the way home we were on I-20. It was a stretch that did not have service road or an an exit for 5 miles. So we had to change it on the side of the road. Rick Mik had all of the people get out of the vehicles and head to the side of the road to stand on the railroad tracks…until it was pointed out that there was a train coming! It passed shortly and all were safe.

I took come pictures along the road home. Glad to be home, look forward to my time to go back to El Paso!
